Kotoba Loop
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Kotoba Loop (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. Kotoba Loop is a Japanese vocabulary learning app.
Summary: Kotoba Loop is built to work offline. Your learning progress, favorites, and settings stay on your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not run analytics or advertising, and we do not sell your data. The only information that leaves your device is what is required to process an in-app purchase, and that is handled by Google and our purchase provider — not by us directly.
Who we are
Kotoba Loop is provided by Karasu Project. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].
Information stored on your device
The following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Learning data — the words you have studied, your review history and spaced-repetition schedule, and words you mark as known or as favorites.
- App settings — your theme, font, notification preferences, and other in-app choices.
This data is stored in the app's local database and preferences. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data. We cannot access it.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Kotoba Loop schedules local notifications on your device (for example, a daily word reminder). These are generated on your device and do not require or transmit any personal data to us or any third party. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your device's system settings.
In-app purchases
Kotoba Loop offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock additional content. When you make a purchase:
- Google Play Billing processes the transaction. Google receives the information needed to complete and validate your purchase (such as your purchase token and order details) under Google's Privacy Policy. We never receive or store your payment card details.
- RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider, records the purchase so the app can confirm your unlock and restore it if you reinstall or change devices. For this purpose RevenueCat processes an anonymous app-generated identifier, your purchase history for this app, and basic technical information such as your device model and the country derived from your IP address. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We use this information only to deliver and restore the content you purchased. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not collect crash or diagnostic reports.
- We do not build user profiles or sell data to anyone.
Children's privacy
Kotoba Loop is a general-audience educational app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights and choices
Because your learning data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. For any questions about purchase records held by our purchase provider, or to make a data request, contact us at [email protected].
Data retention
On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app. Purchase records held by Google and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies and as required for tax, accounting, and purchase-restoration purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, through a notice in the app.
